Dumela, welcome to Botswana

Botswana is widely regarded as one of Africa's premier safari destinations, boasting vast open stretches of pristine wilderness and abundant wildlife. With more than 40% of its land set aside for conservation, you can find remarkable wildlife viewing on all corners of this mostly arid land.

There are many reasons to visit this land-locked county but one reason stands out above all else: the Okavango delta…

‘From the air, a patchwork of islands, meandering channels, oxbow lakes and floodplains teem with wildlife; by mokoro, the calm rippling of water feeds your soul as you gently glide through lily-filled backwaters while the cry of a fish eagle calls in a new day; on land, the thrill of following wild dogs on the hunt on a cool crisp sage-infused morning epitomizes the excitement of a safari, as her wonders and treasures abound on every corner.” The Okavango is without a doubt one of the continent’s hidden gems!

You could easily spend 6-10 days exploring the Okavango but I’d suggest tieing it in with a visit to the Chobe riverfront area with its huge herds of an array of mammal species that gather in the winter months. From there, you have easy access to one of Africa’s true wonders, Victoria Falls.

Botswana has many other top locations with the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, the Makgadikgadi and Nxai Pan National Parks as well as the Kgalagadi which support desert-adapted species such as the gemsbok, brown hyena and meerkat. Venture down to Mashatu, renowned for its big-cat viewing or take in one of the cultural experiences by meeting the Bushmen People, a special group of humans that call this part of the world home.
