Travel to Africa uplifts communities and helps preserve culture

Your travel to the wild areas of this continent is conservation in itself. Not only do you ‘justify’ their existence through the most sustainable land use, but you also give purpose and upliftment to surrounding communities, which in turn see the value of protecting nature. Conservation, community and commerce are closely linked, the relationship of which is key to preserving human culture and the last remaining wilderness areas of this planet.

Visiting the wild areas of Africa has always been about animals for me. Today it still is, but something changed in my 20s when I started working side by side with the Shangaan people. I have grown a deep appreciation for Africa’s cultures. Today my interest and passion to protect and respect the cultures of this continent have become one of my driving forces. I have learnt that protecting wildlife can’t happen if we ignore people. Africa is extremely rich in culture and history - more recently it is often dark and often debated but fascinating with lessons and hope. There is a joy for life here that every human should pay attention to. The colour and cultural richness on this continent are second to none - no matter where you are from, you will find a deep connection with her people!
